This painting is a copy of a famous painting done by a Spanish artist Joaquín Sorolla done approx. in the year 1919. More of his works can be seen here- http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/joaqu-n-sorolla
I chose to copy this painting because i love the light and the colors he used to make this painting. It was a fun exercise to paint my favorite subject matter thru the eyes of another artist.

I began this painting before i went to India- finally got to complete it today. This is done from a photo taken at the local botanical garden . The flash captured the bubbles very well and the whole painting depicts the grace and movement of the fish.

Happy New Year everyone!
Just back from winter break, this is my first painting of 2010. I have lots of new ideas for the new year and look forward to your input and comments on my work.
This painting is inspired by my students who are working on charcoal cups and pots. This is a very old subject for still life paintings. It is usually set up against a dark background, i wanted to try something different with the background colors making it more modern. What do you think?
