Watercolor on paper
24" x 18"
$800

Not every painting fits into the category of being able to rework it but, when it does it's okay, to give a painting a new life an perhaps find a new home too.  This beautiful watercolor is for sale.

Reworking a painting can be a good thing but, it can be also be the kiss of death. When reworking a painting It's best to add color and highlights but, try to refrain from lifting out broad areas of color and rework it all together. In this case, i added some more shadows and highlights and painted the table/foreground in a more dynamic way, using several watercolor techniques like wet into wet, adding salt and painting in layers.
Hydrangeas
Large alcohol ink on yupo
20" x 26"
$475 unframed

The vivid shades of blue alcohol ink colors make the hydrangeas come alive in this painting, colors like baja blue, indigo, and sailboat blue. These big, blue, showy flowers against the muted peach/pink background make a soft, pleasing composition.

Happy to mention that these 2 paintings have been selected for the museum school's annual show and sale of artwork.
Butterfly attraction
acrylic on panel
12" x16"
$350

This painting is inspired by the beautiful butterfly bushes that are everywhere in the garden at the Whistler House Museum http://www.whistlerhouse.org/. The painting is in an abstract contemperory style with complementary purple and yellow playing off each other, it is about creating an outdoor garden mood set in a pleasing composition.
The butterfly bushes are significant because the artist, James McNeill Whistler's "monogram 'J.W.' was developed into a 'butterfly' signature in c.1869 and gradually evolved over the next thirty years, acquiring antennae, veins and a tail."http://www.whistler.arts.gla.ac.uk/miscellany/butterflies/

Acrylic on watercolor paper
8" x10"

$60 each
Sold at the L D Gallery 1/2 price sale

These 2 paintings are all about texture, texture for the feathers on the birds, texture for the leaves, textures of grass. It was fun to paint these as the process involves painting freely and loosely.
