The prompt for all these was a joyful zen feeling with the circles representing people in your life. Lines, textures and colors that add to the emotional experience.
Working in a series is a big emphasis. I am trying to do more of that!

‘Beyond Logic’ is one of the paintings that is a part of a series of paintings from the ‘Moving Target Series.’ This painting is an exciting exploration of a circle as a powerful symbol spirituality, eternity and completeness.

The painting is built with several layers of glazes and collage materials using a combination of saturated and muted colors and drawing materials like pencils, pastels and oil sticks. I rotate the painting as I work on it and repeat the process until the surface is textured and gorgeous.

‘Promises To Keep’ is created for you to immerse yourself in a world of circles, lines, shapes and mark making as they reveal their inner secrets. This painting explores the subtle balance between order and chaos, darkness and light, structure and freedom, within the large format composition.

 

This is mixed media abstract and acrylic painting on a large wood panel. My process involves building up layers of paint and collage as I express myself emotionally. I work on multiple pieces at one time exploring the same idea or theme in different ways. Working on many pieces at once gives me liberty to express myself freely without getting too controlling at an early stage. As I am working, each painting speaks to me differently. It is important to allow each painting to evolve naturally. When the meaning or idea emerges, I start to make decisions about color and composition to bring the work to completion.

 

Being an abstract expressionist, I don’t like to tell people what I was thinking while I am working on a painting because most of the time I don’t know myself. I just want to experiment and explore...discover the possibilities. I really would like for them to take away from the work what speaks to them. I don't want to put any preconceived ideas into the viewer’s head. That is why I like abstract pieces so much, the viewer can form their own conclusions and let their imagination run wild.

‘Connecting The Dots’ is inspired by my love for using circles in my abstract compositions. Circles are the ultimate curvilinear shape, symbolic of dynamic and endless completeness. They evoke a feeling of calmness, peacefulness and relaxation in this painting. Keeping this painting mostly in neutral colors with a repeating pattern of dots/circles creates a strong visual impact.

In keeping with my new goal to explore and experiment more, I have thought about letting loose and freely applying more paint, more collage, using scrapers, fingers, sticks to add marks I love and exploring differences. 

Well, i ended up experimenting some more with other variations of this color combination - ending up with a better composition and more complex color.

I got some beautiful pinks and muddy greens with this combination. I think I found a new combination that I like. #colorexperiment #limitedcolorpalette #colorinspiration #newcolors #newcombination

Motivated by my commitment to the preservation of nature, this, “Celebration of Life” series incorporates recycled paper from old sewing pattern paper, grocery bags, found paper, catalog paper in collage form. I distressed, stenciled, monoprinted and manipulated the paper surfaces, highlighting the struggle between consumption and nature and our need to reduce waste globally. Nature vs technology, written text vs printed text, circles vs lines, hard edges vs soft edges, defined pattern vs the loose paint application. Uncontrolled marks disrupt structural pattern.

The neutral, earthy color palette provides a beacon of hope, embracing a collective approach to environmental preservation. The collection celebrates the paper bags’ journey from tree to canvas.

When I was working on this painting, my husband was watching this show on Netflix about Marco Polo and kept talking to me every morning about it, so somehow the excitement of his adventures stuck in my mind. Hence the exotic title of the painting, inspired by the Netflix show. I Enjoyed using shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to achieve its effect.

“Flowers, Wine and Fruit.” is a large abstract mixed media painting.
Colorful, collectable and contemporary, original still life painting on  paper direct from the artist. 

This painting focuses on the rich texture of patterns enveloped within a still life. Color and line relationships are explored through an arrangement of fruits, flowers and vessels.

The painting is abstract in nature with the shapes taking on a somewhat flattened appearance which renders them to be more like puzzle pieces with in a whole. This is another theme within my work that I continue to explore. The colors are vibrant and the artwork contains visible brushwork and texture.

Layers, layers, and more layers, that’s what this painting is all about.  Seeing how one covers the next and then revealing what’s underneath is fascinating.  I have recently been adding the use of collage, stencils , text and cut paper to the mix.  The  result is more nuance, depth, and interest.  Using the positive or negative of the stencil and then  adding paint to blur or soften the image gives it a nice richness and a sense of history.

 

 

 

I have a tendency to organise shapes in simple thoughtful ways, so in the beginning i took simple cutout shapes and arranged them in a pleasing composition.
